Workshop Objectives:
By the end of this workshop, participants will have had the opportunity to:
- Learn about the effects of stress and anxiety on the body and mind, in particular when this has built up over a long period;

- Learn about the benefits that a regular mindfulness practice can bring in terms of reducing anxiety and stress
- Experience one or two mindfulness practices first-hand

- Learn some simple techniques for integrating mindfulness into their work day

- How stress reduces working memory
- Physiological and psychological responses
- Identifying your personal stress triggers
- Group discussion if appropriate
3 – Awareness of the present moment
- Understanding ‘Autopilot’
- What it means to be aware of the present moment
- Why we need this awareness to help manage our stress and anxiety
- Short and light group practical meditation to highlight this concept
- Using physical and mental awareness to recognise unhelpful thoughts and patterns
- Formulating a response rather than a reaction to these thoughts

- Self compassion vs self criticism and judgment
6 – Everyday mindfulness tools for cultivating joyful moments
